APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY HEADTEACHER
On behalf of the Governing Body I am pleased to inform parents that Miss Lindsey Taylor has been appointed Deputy Headteacher from 1st April 2010.
As you know Miss Taylor has been at St Andrew’s over 9 years, is part of the Senior Management Team and has been Acting Deputy for several months assisting the Headteacher in this demanding role.
I am sure you will join me, the Governing Body and all staff at St Andrew’s in wishing Miss Taylor every success in her new appointment.

SPORT RELIEF MILE
If you wish to join your child taking part in the Sport Relief Mile on Wednesday 31st March the timetable is as follows:
9.30am - YR plus brothers and sisters from other year groups
& Y6 who have no brothers and sisters in school.
10.00am - Y1 plus brothers and sisters from other year groups
& Y5 who have no brothers and sisters in school.
10.30am - Y2 plus brothers and sisters from other year groups
& Y4 who have no brothers and sisters in school.
11.00am - Y3 and any other children who have brothers and sisters in KS2.
Any KS2 child who wishes to go with their own class may do so.
On the day the children may come in sports clothes or fancy dress, but please make sure they have suitable footwear for running, walking or jogging.

CHRISTINGLE
I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended our Christingle Service at the beginning of February, and to everyone for their very kind and generous donations towards the work of The Children’s Society. This was a huge success and I have been able to send a cheque for £334.65 to the Children’s Society. Thank you once again for all your help, which is greatly appreciated.

PARENTS MEETINGS

SPORTS RELIEF
Some children have asked about doing the sport relief mile (running or walking!!) Mr Schofield has kindly measured out a mile round the playgrounds and school field. We intend holding this event on the last day of term (Wednesday 31st March). Any parents who wish to join us are very welcome. Each class will be given an allotted time which we will inform you of on next weeks newsletter.

MORRISONS VOUCHERS
I would like to thank everyone who has sent in the Morrison’s vouchers. Our order has been delivered this week and we have some new watering cans, Dutch hoes, seed potatoes, trowels, compost and also some weather stations which can be used in science lessons.
Hopefully the Gardening Club will resume after the danger of frost has passed as we have some trees, potatoes and seeds to plant.

PLASTIC MILK BOTTLE TOPS
We are once again collecting bottle tops for charity. A local boy will receive a new wheelchair from a local company if he can collect his body weight in bottle tops. Kind regards.

OUTSTANDING DINNER MONEY
Friday 26th March will be the last collection of dinner money before the Easter break. If you have any outstanding dinner money please send it to school on this date. After the 26th March all arrears will be collected directly by the Local Authority.

LATENESS
The majority of children arrive at school on time for registration at 8.55am. However, we have a small band of persistent latecomers. Please support your child by ensuring they arrive before registration closes at 9.00am. Most children who arrive late and have missed the first part of a lesson sometimes become quite upset. Thank you for your co-operation.

SAINSBURY’S & TESCO VOUCHERS
Once again we will be saving both Tesco and Sainsbury’s vouchers. In the past we have used these vouchers to purchase extra equipment for PE, ICT, Art and Baking etc. Please send your vouchers into school with your child. The collection boxes are in the entrance hall.

WORLD BOOK DAY
World Book Day is on Thursday 4th March. On that day children can either come in their own clothes or come dressed as a character from a book. We are also asking that they bring their favourite book from home (please make sure their name is in the book).

Please make sure your child has shorts, T-shirt and pumps in school to enable them to fully participate in PE and dance lessons.

SPARE UNIFORM
We have a surplus of spare uniform all in good condition. These clothes will be on display in the KS2 open area from 3.00pm on Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th of March. A small donation to school funds would be appreciated.

COFFEE MORNING
There will be a coffee morning in the Parish Centre on Friday 5th March, 10.00am to 12.00 noon. All monies raised will go to Cancer Research. Everyone is welcome.

INTERNET USE
As you may be aware there has been a lot in the news this week about children using the internet. Please be vigilant as some websites are really not suitable for children of this age group. In school we have very strong filters to ensure safe access for children.

ST ANDREW’S CHURCH PANTOMIME
St Andrew’s church congregation are putting on a pantomime during half term week in the school hall on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm. The pantomime is Goldilocks and the 3 bears. Tickets are £4.00 for adults and £3.00 for children and will be on sale after both church services on Sunday morning and in school on Saturday and Sunday afternoon from 1.30pm.
